A New Experience: An Exclusive Look at my first Live Event in Fresno, Ca

If you follow me on social media, you may be familiar with the fact that I mostly travel for Live Events. This means I may be traveling to the San Francisco Intl. Airport for Duty Free Shops, Los Angeles for Bloomingdales, or another venue to entertain VIP guests or customers with live event calligraphy, bottle painting, or engraving.

After months of working on other social media platforms and putting myself out there, I finally had a lead. The Fresno Convention Center Marketing Director found me and thought it would be a great idea to have a live calligrapher for their booth at the Central California Women's Conference. I was ecstatic when I realized it was one of the conferences I tried outreaching to a year prior. I didn't hear anything from the conference planners, so I put my energy onto other projects. I kept plugging away at the social media, and finally secured an amazing lead. Not hearing from any of the planners was a blessing in disguise, since Mark Moreno, the director of the venue found me on the LinkedIn platform. How Mark envisioned the day would go is exactly how a Live Event Artist like myself entertain guests and leave a lasting impression. We can establish that human connection, irreplaceable by a machine or a mass produced item that may just end up tossed at the end of the day. He wanted me to write on their plastic tumblers for the event, and it proved to be memorable experience for all.

If I could be transparent for a moment, it's been a challenge in Fresno. When I first outreached to places here we were still in the thick of Covid, but even when businesses opened up, I received many no's. I realized later that the timing just wasn't right. We don't have luxury stores like Bloomingdale's or Nordstrom, but we do have beautiful venues for weddings, corporate events, sports tournaments, fundraising galas, etc. One such venue is the Fresno Convention Center. As the Sales and Marketing Manager Helen mentioned, if you can dream it, we can make it happen. My first time being a live event artist here at home was a remarkable experience. With Mark's permission, I was able to stay for the entirety of the conference and watch Brooke Shields be interviewed by Margot Kim of ABC30. The luncheon was catered (around 4,000 women) by Pardini's Catering, a household name in the Central Valley for weddings and special events. Great food, amazing networking opportunities, women empowerment, along with an incredible interview. Feeling happy during this event is definitely an understatement. Honored, inspired, and uplifted are just a few of the many emotions I felt that day.

As we start the New Year, here's to an inspirational 2024 filled with love, hope, and empowerment. Following last year's theme Believe in Your Voice, I hope 2024 brings you joy, success, good fortune, whilst believing in your own voice. Cheers and Maraming Salamat Po! (Thank you very much in Filipino.)

xoxo,
